Wally and the DINPs

Ed and I are DINPs – double income, no pets. We’ve both had pets in the past and might want to have them again in the future. I’d like a cat and Ed wants a dachshund. But right now we’re happy to not have to deal with pet hair, pet food, pet poop, pet walking, pet brushing, pet training………..

Except for Wally - the daddy-long-legs spider that finds a home in our bathtub. He shows up now and then, not sure if it’s always the same spider, but I choose to believe it is. Named him after my first major crush in 6th grade. Back in Tucson, we used to catch daddy-long-legs, paint their bodies different colors, and let them walk on our desk. Until the teacher caught us. She wasn’t happy.

So Wally comes and goes as he pleases as long as he stays in the tub (the tub is in the guest bathroom so rarely gets used). Sometimes he manages to get out and ends up on the floor or the rug. If I see him, I just pick him up by his little foot and put him back in the tub. Don’t know what happens when Ed finds him. I'm guessing it's not pretty.

Everyone give a High Eight to Wally!

Hey there Wally, how's it going? At least you don't have to buy shoes for your pet, just think-- 8 shoes! LOL

Hi, I came over from Susies post to visit....I love your story, I get goose bumps when I see daddy long leg spiders....or any spider that is.... but my daughter when she was about 6 she had a compact that was empty, and found a daddy long legs, and decided to befriend it.....she would pick it up and put it in the compact, carrying it around, then letting it out for a walk.....I can't remember how long this went on, but the spider seemed to live for quite a while...

Daddy Longlegs are harmless! When I find them, I just take them outside. :)
