The call

Well, this morning we got "the call" from the hospital. Ed's dad is not doing well and the doctor feels it's time to let him go. I think Ed pretty much knew this was coming, but it's still always a shock and so difficult to deal with. However, when Ed's mother passed away in January 2007, his dad told us very clearly that he never wanted to be just kept alive. If he was sick and needed machines and IV's, etc. to keep him alive, that we were not to do that.

Send good wishes Ed's way. He'll need them. As I said, we lost his mom last January, my dad passed away in October, and now his father will be gone in a day or two. It's been a rough year. At least they all had long lives, but it's never easy.

I'm so sorry. How hard to have to deal with. I'm not sure I'm even close to knowing how I would handle such news. Stay strong.
