And now, please meet Tyson!

My son, Joe, became a first-time father last night at 7:39 pm when Tyson Anthony entered the world. Pretty exciting, I must say! He called around 5:30 pm to say that they were on their way to the hospital, then he called when they got there to say it would probably be 3 or 4 hours. My daughter and I - along with husbands and kids - planned to be there with Joe, but figured we'd have time for a quick dinner first. So, we all headed to the hospital around 7pm. As we were driving on the freeway, we received the text message: "baby's coming now!"

Dang it!! We managed to get there about 20 minutes after he was born and spent a couple of hours with the whole gang. Angie (Joe's wife), her other two sons, her sister and friend, Ed and I, Jenni, Jeff, Eamon, and Vika. Full house! And a good time was had by all.

I called Joe this morning to see if he got much sleep last night - of course he didn't. I mumbled something about "payback is a beeyoch" but I don't think he heard me. Heh, heh, heh
And little Tyson smiles (yes, I know it's probably just gas) and cries (seems to be doing a Yoda impersonation). But daddy is proud. And even more so after Tyson was circumcised and the doctor told Joe that they had to use the "extra large clamp" !! Lot of chest puffing at that one!
So now Ed and I are grandparents for the 11th time. But for Joe, it's his first child and it's quite wonderful to see his looks of love, awe, joy, fear - all those new parent emotions.
Happy Birthday, Tyson!!
