Diaper 101

I went up to my son's house today to spend a couple of hours with Tyson. Since only Angie and Joe were home (and, of course, the baby) it was a nice, quiet visit. Tyson slept most of the time and ate when the mood hit him.

At one point Joe decided they should probably change his diaper, even though it didn't really have anything in it. But, what the heck. So he carefully put the baby on the pad on the floor and proceeded to remove his diaper. There was just a tiny bit of poo there so Joe smiled broadly (I guess he was proud his kid could poo - I don't know), got the wipey and proceeded to clean his son's tush. Carefully, of course. Then he slid the clean diaper under him and went for the tube of vaseline to put a bit on the diaper and a bit on baby (for the circumcision). Joe squeezed the tube a little too hard. A wad of vaseline squirted out and all over Tyson. Apparently the vaseline was a little cold because it shocked Ty a bit and he peed - all over his shirt, the clean diaper, Angie's hands, etc. Joe let out this "Whoa!!! Whoa!!! Whoa !!!". I just laughed and went for the camera.

Joe got a new diaper, did the vaseline thing a little more carefully this time, and then started to fasten the diaper. He wanted to tuck the top in so it wouldn't get near the umbilical cord. Angie said not to tuck it in until after it was fastened. By this time Joe was so frazzled that he just wanted it to be done! Note the clenched fist in the photo below.

The diaper incident ended without anyone getting hurt. That's a good thing. But 5 minutes later Joe said, "Next time I'll .........." I told him not to worry. He would be having PLENTY of chances to perfect his diapering skills. More than he can imagine. More than he could ever want.

I love being the Grandma!

aaawwwww!! i can totally relate to joe with the diaper change. even though the poop was watery and slight, i was excited to change that diaper. of course, as you say, the thrill was gone by month 8 or 10 when the shit stank, and the poop was heavy! whew!!

Tyson is absolutely beautiful! He's got such stunning features for a newborn.

I'm laughing so hard at the diaper story. Have you seen the diaper commercial where the baby pees like a fire hose? I loved it!

Tyson is such a sweet baby. Yes, Joe will have ample opportunities to perfect his diaper changing skills. I'm sure he'll know how to change Tyson with his eyes closed eventually!

Sandi he is such a cute baby! I really mean that...there are babies that are not cute, all babies are cute because they are babies but some really really are! Tyson is beautiful, and that HAIR! My son was so bald, I say so bald because he was so bald it didn't look like there was even a chance of having hair. Now he is a red head and I think the babies hair looks a little auburn. Watch out for the red heads! Its true what they say, they are hot heads, but sweet too. Congrats on being the grandma that gets all the fun! :)N
