Welcome to the Family !!

Please say hello to little Alex - my brother's newest child! He was born last Friday and is having his first experience with those delightful Chicago winters.

This is my brother's fourth child and second son. My dad would be so excited to learn that there is yet another male to carry on the family name. I remember how excited he was when my brother, Tony, was born after having us two girls. One of the first things he did was tell his brother-in-law, my Uncle Joe. Uncle Joe was a construction worker and was, at that moment, working on the new Sears building in Tucson and was down in the foundation area when my dad drove to the site, looked down into the construction area, and yelled, "Hey, Joe, I have a son!!"

I'm guessing my brother didn't do anything quite so dramatic, however the pride he has in all four of his children is extremely evident. He and my sister-in-law, Nicki, have created a wonderful life for themselves and their kids. I only wish they weren't so far away.

Since Tony is 18 years younger than me, his kids feel like grandkids to me and it's so wonderful to watch the family expand. Ed and I are hoping to take a trip to Chicago in April to meet the little guy. Until that time I'll have to be content with lots of photos and lots of phone calls.

So, Alex, welcome. You've joined a loud, laughing, loving family and we're all very happy you're here!
