Say Goodbye to Red Meat!!

Well, my husband made it through his procedure just fine today. He's staying overnight at the hospital, but that's routine. We're both glad it's over and everything went okay.

Ed's never really been in a hospital since a collarbone incident when he was in his early 20's. So the whole experience was pretty scary for him. We got there at 6am and, between that time and 8am when they rolled him into the procedure room, at least seven people came to his bedside for one thing or another. The nursing assistant who got him to the bed and gave him the charming backless gown. The other nursing assistant who did a little shaving. The 22-year old research student (who looked about 12!) who wanted to ask questions for a study she was doing. The nurse with the heavy Irish accent who would be assisting the physician during the procedure. The Fellow with the heavy German accent who would also be assisting the physician. The anesthesiologist. And the EKG tech. Ed figured they had such a large cast of characters to keep his attention diverted! Poor guy has so many tubes and wires on him that he looks a bit robotic!

But, other than waiting a long time for a bed, and the issue of the catheter, everything went well. Even though I've worked in the hospital for almost 20 years, I don't work in a clinical area. So it becomes a scary place when someone you care about is a patient. Totally different view. One I'd rather not have too often!!!

Now I'm going to have a nice glass of Pinot Noir and enjoy my evening alone.
