The Fourth done come and gone

We had a really nice trip to Seattle last weekend. Actually got home very early Saturday morning. Our flight left SeaTac at 6:30am so we had to get up at 3:30 am. This after not being able to get to sleep until almost midnight. And THAT was after walking my ass off around Seattle all day Friday! With those two things, and my Bonine so I don't puke on the plane, by the time we got home I could not keep my eyes open. Luckily Ed had to do some work so I had the house to myself for a few hours. Or rather, the couch. I've become a total wuss in my old age.

When we got to our hotel, the room was nice, but not what we had expected. The next morning we mentioned something to the manager and, in looking at our online booking, he agreed and put us in a much nicer room - #262. We had only been in the room for a short while when the front desk called and needed to see Ed's credit card again. So he went down. While he was at the desk he noticed the plate of fresh cookies. He already brought a couple up about an hour before so, rather than let me see him eating yet another cookie, he decided to skarf it down before he got back to the room. He took the cookie in his hot little hand and headed back. Taking rather large bites along the way. Finally he swallowed the last bite and put the key in the door. Nothing. Tried it again. This time he got the little red light. He was just about to knock when he looked at the number and discovered he was at room 362 and not 262. In his haste to eat the dang cookie he apparently forgot to get in the elevator and go down one floor. So he hightailed it down the hallway before the occupants came to see what the commotion was and who was trying to get in their room. Ed took the first hallway, found the stairs, and raced back to safety. But the cookie was good!

We headed up north to Bellingham on Thursday just to take a drive. At one point the sun actually came out for a minute. Then the rain and hail started. It was so loud that we had to shout to hear each other. But, since we don't get enough rain here in N. CA, it was fun. And the thunderstorms were wonderful.

On Friday we took one of those Duck tours. Very cool. Did a little drive downtown and then went into Lake Union. We also had a great tour guide. This photo is of us in the rear view mirror waiting for the ride to start. Dorky, I know.

We spent the 4th at Seattle Center looking around and going to the Sci Fi and Music Museum. Both were really interesting and a nice relaxing way to spend a couple of hours. Well, if you don't count the one time when we were trying to go to another room and Ed opened the door. We heard a funny sound and then noticed that it said "Emergency Exit Only". Luckily the alarm wasn't too loud so we were able to scurry around the corner to avoid the embarrassment of being fingered as the door openers. Yes, I am not above scurrying.

Lake Union has a great fireworks display so we walked there to see them. I discovered the continuous shot setting on my camera so decided to play with it during the fireworks. Took around 150 photos. About 5 were any good! Ah, well, I also know how to use the Erase button. All in all a nice trip. Had lots of Starbucks, lots of seafood, lots of walking, lots of rain, and a little fish throwing. Just a good old Seattle weekend.

I love Seattle. In jr high and high school my mom sent my sister and I there for the entire summer. We always went downtown for the fireworks. One time my grandpa got turned around and got lost. Its a confusing city to get around in but absolutely gorgeous! Ed and the cookie! how hilarious is that. What kind of trip would it be without and Ed incident anyway right? lol :)N

Ed and the cookie - hilarious!

I can just see the "oh shit" look on his face when he realized he was at the wrong door.

Sometimes cookies have a hypnotic effect on individuals - especially if they're chocolate chip!

I'm glad that you had a fun filled weekend in Seattle! You and Ed look so cute and happy together!

Nice photos and love the one of you two in the car. I visited Seattle two years ago in Spring and it was a lovely trip! We had the luxury of 4 days with no rain and lots of sun. My one regret is that Seattle is so far from Texas!

I'm still laughing about Ed and the cookies.

Aren't the Ducks fun? We did that on one of our visits there.

I would have loved to see the fireworks!
