Just a taste, or two, or three, or.......

We spent the last couple of days (and one night) in Livermore, CA at the Harvest Wine Festival. It's a really fun event with busses to take you to the various wineries for tastings, and our hotel had a shuttle to the main bus hub. So no driving for us! Each winery has bands, food, premier tastings, and regular tastings. And a few of them are walking distances from each other so there were a lot of people milling about.

And a lot of fairly sloshed people. At noon, when the festivities start, people are nice - smiling, laughing, talking. By 4pm there are always those who start getting really loud, spilling their wine, walking around with their little wine glass holders dangling from their necks. We were on one of the busses when a group of girls with very large boobs and very tight clothes were getting all excited about the next winery. They stood up as we neared the stop chanting, "Crooked Vines, Crooked Vines!! We're at Crooked Vines!!" They had their hands over their heads and chanted and sashayed as they left the bus. About 10 of them. After they got off, most of us laughed - the winery we had just stopped at was Cedar Mountain, not Crooked Vine. And not ONE of us wanted to tell them about their mistake because we were glad they were getting off the bus! Saw them later and they were a bit more subdued. Especially the one who couldn't walk any more on her high heels (!!) and was hanging on to one of her friends. Charming.

Now we're home, wined out (temporarily, I assure you), and ready to get back to work tomorrow. Okay, maybe just a little red with dinner.

I went to a wine festival yesterday with some girlfriends held at the fairgrounds yesterday and everyone seemed to be "behaving" themselves. ;-)

It was a nice day (finally, since it had rained for the past three) and there were lots of tastings, two sessions of a "Wine University" and some arts and crafts.

Unfortunately, on the way out there was a pick-up truck that had rear-ended a car on the access road that leads to I-10. The police were there, and I'll bet that it involved a DUI. I'm glad that you and Ed had a nice weekend!

Wow, sounds like fun. We're cleaning up after Gustav and waiting for power, but basically glad to be back home after evacuating. So funny about the high heels. Poor planning, I'd say. Hugs, Julia

That would be a fun festival to go to, but I might only last through the first one....I love winery's though, and little sampling sips... The one thing that is hard for me to take is a drunk.... some are funny, but when they get to talking dirty, staggering, and just plain sloppy, that is enough for me..... It was nice that they had shuttles for all of it... cheers! judy
