Well, Excuuuuusssseee Me!!

Today, as most Fridays, I picked up my grandkids - Eamon and Vika - after school to take them to my house for a few hours. We were driving home and talking about school. Suddenly I saw a really pretty tree up ahead with bright red leaves. Wanting to ensure that they learn to appreaciate nature, I said, "Hey, guys, look at that beautiful tree with the fall leaves."

Suddenly from the back seat Vika said, "Off topic!!"

Me: "What? What do you mean 'off topic'?"

Vika: "That means we were talking about one thing and then you started talking about something different."

Me: "I know what 'off topic' means, but I was through with the first discussion and simply changing the subject."

Vika: heavy sighing and rolling of eyes.

I'm sure she got that from her teacher. God knows, I say it often enough to the kids in my class!

What astounds me is that she actually chastised you. My sweet, little daughter, scolding her Babushka? Where on earth could she have learned such behavior?

OK, I haven't heard that one. It's probably a "school" saying...

Too funny...I am always trying to divert the attention away from what mys on wants to talk about. Its usually some quiz that I have no idea what the answers are. Its a constant battle. :)N
