Give me my peanuts and let me read!
For me one of the best parts of vacations is the uninterrupted reading time I have on the airplane!
My dad passed on his love of reading to me and, luckily, my daughter, Jenni (Four Feet More ), has the same obsession! One of the first books I truly remember was called Rebirth (I think that was the title) that I read when I was in junior high about a group of kids around the world who survived a devastating war and communicated telepathically with each other. Parts of the story were based in New Zealand and reading that book created an as-yet unfulfilled longing to visit that country.
Another author my dad shared with me was Ayn Rand and Atlas Shrugged probably is my overall favorite book. Although I don't share some of the philosophy in it, the story is so powerful and, again, my first (of 3) readings of the book was at an impressionable age in late high school or early college.
So when I saw this list on Jenni's blog, I decided to play around with it. Looking at this list, I realize that there are many of these I need to re-read - especially the Steinbeck books now that I live in this area and will have a better appreciation of the settings for his books.
And let me just say - I've highlighted Great Expectations and Tale of Two Cities. But I was FORCED to read those in high school. A very painful experience!!!

I've got a bunch of the books you haven't read, if you'd like to borrow them. Bridget Jones Diary is a must!
And I didn't know you'd read The Time Traveler's Wife. We'll have to talk about that - I'm interested to know what you thought. I also hear they may be making a movie of it. The non-linear format may be confusing on film though.
