You did NOT just tell me that!

This afternoon my son, Joe, and his wife dropped off their 5-week old son (my newest grandson) so I could babysit for a couple of hours while they went out to eat. They brought in the diaper bag, the car seat (just in case), the little play mat, milk, diaper changing items, etc.

Joe was holding Tyson and he said, "He still gets fussy sometimes." I said, "Trust me, you and your sister got fussy - I can handle it."

Then he said, "If he gets too fussy, check his diaper. When his diaper gets wet he doesn't like it and he starts crying."

I just looked at him and said, "No shit! You mean your baby gets fussy when his diaper is wet?!? Who ever heard of such a thing!! Oh my goodness!!" Then he started laughing and said, "Hey, this is all new to me!"

My niece does the same thing to me when I take care of her baby. I have to remind the of the same thing over and over..."Been there, done that." She forgets quickly that I raised my son from birth until I got married 6 years ago, all alone!! I don't think I need the Dr. Spock book by my side when I babysit my precious angel niece!! Sometimes, just to make her feel better, I just keep my piehole shut and act like she's teaching me something new!!! :-)

ha-ha. It's so funny when new parents forget that THEIR parents have already been through all of this :)

I have this same situation to look forward to. My son and DIL will be expecting their first at the end of summer. My son will be exactly the same! LOL
